Coaching Certification Standards
Curling Canada values the contribution of coaches to our competitive championships. All coaches participating in Curling Canada’s events and national championships must have the appropriate Coach Certification Standards and have completed the event’s Sport Integrity Training for the event to gain access to the ice. Exemptions will NOT be issued. It is a team’s responsibility to check the standards PRIOR to registering a coach for the event.
Canada Winter Games
Curling Canada has received special permission from the Canada Winter Games Council for an exception from the standard Competition Development Certified Status rule normally required by the Canada Winter Games.
For the sport of curling – both fours and mixed doubles – Coaches must be at minimum “Competition Development In-Training.”
To achieve this status coaches must be:
- Fully certified Competition Coach
- AND have completed the following two Competition Development Modules
- Health and Wellness
- Manage a Program
Absolutely NO exemptions from this standard will be approved by Curling Canada since the exception has already been established.
Coaches should look to be qualified the season BEFORE the Canada Winter Games so that they have sufficient time to achieve this status.
