Multi-Sport Training
Some courses or modules are not sport-specific and are common to all sports within the Canadian Sport System. These courses are delivered by Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives or by the Coaching Assocation of Canada (ie e-learning modules).
For a complete list of Multi-Sport Modules including those required by the Competition Development Program (Coaching and Leading Effectively, Managing Conflict, Psychology of Performance) – access the NCCP Workshop Calendar here.
Make Ethical Decisions (MED) Training
The National Coaching Certification (NCCP) offers coaches the opportunity for training and evaluation in ethical decision-making through the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions training, and online evaluation.
By successfully completing the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions training, coaches will be fully equipped to handle ethical situations with confidence and surety. The training helps coaches identify the legal, ethical, and moral implications of difficult situations that present themselves in the world of team and individual sport.
After completing the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions module, you will be able to:
- analyze a challenging situation to determine its moral, legal, or ethical implications; and
- apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to situations in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.
After you have taken the module, you can access the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation free through the Locker. Successful completion of the evaluation is necessary for coach certification in any NCCP program.
How to Register
This NCCP module is delivered through your Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives.
Make Ethical Decisions – Online Evaluation
Successful completion of the MED online evaluation is necessary for certification in any new NCCP program. MED training is not necessary to take the evaluation, however, in certain programs it can lead to ‘trained’ status. Therefore, any coach wishing to attain ‘trained’ status should investigate taking MED training. Once you have completed the MED training, and it appears on your Locker transcript, you will have unlimited attempts at the MED evaluation included in your workshop fee.
If you choose to proceed directly to the MED evaluation without taking any training, please note the following (as of April 1, 2014):
- A fee of $85 will apply.
- You will have 2 attempts at passing the evaluation. If, after 2 attempts, you have not received a passing grade of 75%, you will need to sign up for MED training.
For more information on taking the MED online evaluation, please click here.
The MED Online Evaluation is housed on the Coaching Association of Canada’s “Locker.” For instructions on how to access the evaluation – click here.
